#9 Italian Night Club
Well shoot, now I’m behind. After the madness that was Oktoberfest, we had a three day period to finish up four drawings, take two italian tests, write an essay, and revise some sketches. Then we made a slick mixtape (aptly named “spaghetti balls”), packed our bags and hit the road to Italy. This wasn’t our typical day-trip, however… It was a ten day, ten city journey that fully engaged our minds, taste-buds, and wallets. As my salute (sa-loo-tay) to every one of these cities, I’ll give ‘em one post at a time. So here we go.

I was under the impression that we would be going straight to Florence from Riva, but San Gimignano was a pleasant surprise. We were pumped because it was the first time many of us had ever been to Tuscany, and we couldn’t seem to get Jimmy John’s out of our head every time the name came up (San Jimmy John’s, get it?). It’s a beautiful medieval town rising on a hill that overlooks a wide vista of olive orchards and those tall pointy cypress trees Olive Garden loves so much.

The only things Olive Garden wasn’t able to Americanize about Tuscany are the food, wine, and spirit of the place. Otherwise they hit it right on the nose, but I digress. In the peak of Summer, I’m sure you can level with the fact that this place is a tourist hotspot for romantics and wine-o’s. Even in late September/early October the main streets are pretty full, but manageable. Get some Chianti Colli Senesi when you go, and get lost.
